Nissan beats Audi, BMW
At the New York International Auto Show today, Nissan LEAF became the 2011 World Car of the Year over the other two finalists – Audi A8 and BMW 5 Series.
An international jury of 66 top automotive journalists from 24 countries voted on the final contenders. Previous award winners include offerings from Audi, BMW, Lexus, Mazda and Volkswagen. The award is administered by the non-profit World Car Awards so as to have no affiliation with any particular for-profit entity. We just wish they would come up with a decent looking trophy.
