LEAF sales numbers are improving
According to the Japan Automobile Dealers Association, LEAF sales in Japan amounted to 2,593 in February. This number is in line with our expectations based on previous production announcements offered by Nissan.
Also, Nissan just announced that a ship containing over 600 LEAFs left Japan on March 10, just prior to the earthquake/tsunami striking Japan, headed for the United States. Based on our estimated delivery date of “Week of March 25”, the timing is about right for our LEAF to be on that ship. We will keep you posted as we hear more.
Ernie,
Really sad news of the impact on the Japanese people. Tens of thousands dead or missing. Hard to imagine a major earthquake (I thought we had big ones in California), a tsunami and a nuclear meltdown.
Do you have any information on the impact on Leaf production? KCBS said this morning that Japanese manufacturers may not get back until April.
Thanks,
John
John, I agree. This is an absolutely devastating tragedy. My next post will have more production info from Nissan.
John P,
Today at the site All Cars Electric there is an article by Nikki Gordon-Bloomfield that says Nissan, Toyota, and Honda have halted production until the factories can be assessed. There has been damage to port facilities on the Pacific Coast and some 2300 cars of which 1300 set for the US were damaged. They did not know how many were Leaf’s. The article will give you better details.
Frank
Frank, thanks for that. We will update shortly.
