LEAF reservations open in Canada

Canadian flag2012 LEAFs arriving ahead of schdule

Nissan Canada is opening reservations to the general public for the 2012 Nissan LEAF. Anyone living within 65 kilometers of one of the 27 certified Nissan LEAF dealers are now able to place a reservation.

As we wrote back in September, Nissan is expecting to sell 600 LEAFs in Canada by year-end 2012. We realize that the Canadian population is a fraction of the US population, but that still seems on the low side to us. Reservations for the 2012 model, which opened on October 22,  have already been taken for the first 350 of those units. With total Canadian availability limited to roughly 600 units, we imagine that Nissan will have no trouble filling the rest of their reservations before too long. In fact, demand is ahead of what Nissan anticipated as they expected to not open the second round of reservations until spring 2012.
