Yesterday, the city of Tucson announced that in less than 12 months, the city will have in place two hundred electric vehicle charging stations. While most of the stations will be Level 2 capable, as part of The EV Project, some of the stations will be capable of providing a Level 3 quick-charge (similar to the Nissan charging station pictured above).
The Clean Cities program manager stated that the stations will be primarily located in areas where people will park for an extended time. This would imply public malls and other retail environments. These chargers are expected to see increased demand with the arrival of the Nissan LEAF and Chevrolet Volt.
