Living LEAF updates

2013 AltimaWork, work, work

Living LEAF readers – sorry about the lack of updates this week. My day job is working as a trainer in the automotive industry. And this week I am the one being trained, in a very intensive manner I might add. The subject of all of my time this week is the upcoming 2013 Nissan Altima. And I can tell you after experiencing what I have so far… it is an amazing vehicle.

Much of the new Altima’s information is already available on the Nissan website. What I can tell you after experiencing the car for just a short time so far this week is that it is a noticeable improvement from the current Altima, which in my view, is already a very good car in many ways. Many of you have read my belief that there is no such thing as the perfect car – it just doesn’t exist. The reason it doesn’t exist though, is not due to manufacturer’s engineering or design problems. It doesn’t exist because each of us has our owns unique needs. The work truck that is perfect for Paola won’t work for Mike who needs a van. So it goes with family sedans too.

There are many flavors of family sedans and there is not a single one that will appeal to all. If there were, someone surely would have figured it out by now. But if you have a need for a five passenger vehicle, you could do much worse than taking a look at this car. It will be available to buy in late June or early July based in part on your location. But there is a strong possibility that your local Nissan store will have one that you can test drive sometime early next month.

I will be living with a 2013 Altima 3.5 SL for the next several weeks, in which we will also have a new Toyota Camry and Hyundai Sonata which we will be driving around, to train Nissan’s Sales Consultants about the differences among these vehicles. Look for a more comprehensive review on the new Altima in a couple of months, along with how it compares to these two competitors. And look for more consistent updates on LEAF info starting back up this weekend. Finally, thanks for your tolerance, and your continued readership.

Kelly, as has been said by many others… it’s a tough job, but someone’s got to do it. 🙂

Did I mention that my wife’s car is a Hyundai Sonata Hybrid? We take her car on trips that my LEAF can’t do… Still waiting for fast chargers around town…. 😉
