Mitsu to be broadly available in Europe
Mitsubishi announced today the start of sales of the European-spec i-MiEV in 15 European countries. Mitsu has also received requests from several other countries throughout the region, and is considering supplying them.
The U.K.-spec i-MiEV is no LEAF fighter. Its electric motor produces 47 kilowatts (63 horsepower), it has a driving range of 80 miles with a top speed of 81 miles per hour. The battery pack is also only two-thirds the size of the LEAF pack (16 kilowatt hours vs 24 kilowatt hours). As you can see, the i-MiEV is also significantly smaller than the LEAF, which could be a factor for some situations. We will have more on the i-MiEV as a U.S. release date gets closer.
